Routier (Tejero), TT
Gone but never forgotten...
Routier, my first show dog, was born on November 27, 1979  and a descendant of Holly Lane bloodlines.  As a puppy, he demonstrated the attitude and disposition for the ring, winning many Best Puppy "A" (3-6 months) and Best Puppy "B" (6-9 months) in Shows.  At 6 months old, he was shown at his first Specialty where he took RWD under judge Jo Thompson. Routier completed his Mexican championship under judge Col. Jack Emery before he turned 15 months old. In his first show as a Special, Routier took his first BOB, his first Group 1 and his first Best In Show.  This was also my first BIS!  This win started a four year career where  Routier was consider the "Maximum Representative of the Boxer Breed".  During his career, he participated in 68 shows and won:

  • 48 Best of Breeds
  • 39 Groups Firsts
  • 34 Best Mexican Bred in Show
  • 26 Best In Shows, including 20 All-Breeds, 4 Specialties, and 2 Working Group Specialties

Some of the breeder judges awarding these wins were John Connolly, Betty C. Frohock, Liane Dimitrof, Rick Tomita, and Rufus Burleson. Routier was the #1 All-Breed Dog of the Year in 1981, and #2 All-Breed dog in 1982 and 1983.   In 1984, Routier was, again, #1 All-Breed Dog of the Year (pictured below) for being an "extraordinary example (of the breed) reuniting structure, balance, elegance, movement, and temperament".
